December 20-26, 2010

Escape to a traditional and meaningful Christmas celebration. Simple. Festive. Holy.
During these magical days, Kanuga welcomes multi-generational families coming together from scattered cities and states, couples and singles. All will find days packed with busy activities, and a chance to relax and renew as we build toward the festive celebration of our Lord’s birth.
A
fresh-cut Christmas tree awaits in each cottage and on each floor of the
Inn. Decorating is up to you, perhaps with ornaments just made in the craft
workshop. Sip hot chocolate by the fire as you await Santa’s annual
visit, hear a handbell choir, worship, take part in the hanging of the greens
in the Chapel of the Transfiguration and simply enjoy being surrounded by
family and friends.
A Kanuga Christmas
tradition from the first year has been the adoption of less fortunate families
living nearby. Guests are asked to bring unwrapped gifts of clothes, toys
and books to add to the food and basic gifts supplied by Kanuga, then spend
time wrapping the gifts for a particular family. On Christmas Eve afternoon,
guests load their cars and with directions in hand deliver brightly decorated
boxes to the families – an experience of giving in the true Christmas
tradition.
Each evening brings a delightful opportunity – perhaps a musical group, a magician or a new favorite, the Festival of Lessons and Carols. Childcare offered two mornings allows parents to complete last-minute wrapping and shopping. Then Christmas Eve, with a candlelight buffet, carols by the fire and the Christmas Eve Holy Eucharist. Christmas Day is a leisurely day of brunch, Christmas Day Eucharist and Follies, an opportunity to share your talents with family and friends.
